Our first birthday, and we're celebrating by giving back 💙

Mode & Opal turns one on 24 November. Animals have always been close to my heart, and I couldn't imagine marking our first year any other way than helping the SPCA. So I teamed up with the lovely Kimberley Crossman, New Zealand actor, presenter and SPCA ambassador, on a limited edition gift set.

$15 from every set goes to SPCA New Zealand. Every donation is enough to bottle feed 5 puppies for a day.

Why Kim?

It all started with a leaking drink bottle. I noticed Kim was using a different bottle, she mentioned hers was leaking, so I sent her a Mode & Opal. She's been sharing it ever since. When I started planning this collab, Kim was the first person in New Zealand I reached out to. The SPCA is close to her heart too, so it was a natural fit, and she's been an absolute pleasure to work with.

It started with a leaking bottle

I noticed Kim was using a different bottle during her early postpartum days and she mentioned hers was leaking. I sent her one of ours and she started sharing her experience with it on social media.

When I started thinking about who I wanted to collaborate with for our first birthday, Kim was an obvious choice. She was the first person I reached out to in New Zealand, and I know the SPCA is close to her heart, so it just felt like a really natural fit.

The 770ml has a 75mm base and tapers at the bottom, so it fits most car cupholders. Some cars, particularly 4WDs and utes, have narrower or deeper holders, so it’s worth measuring yours.

If it’s 76mm or wider you’re all good. Note the boot adds a few millimetres.

The 940ml fits some cup holders but not all.

We created Mode & Opal because we were tired of the ones that didn’t quite work. Hard to clean, awkward to sip from, or too heavy to carry.

Ours are made for real life. The spout is shaped for a natural sip (so you don’t have to pucker or strain), the lid is dishwasher-safe, and the handle and body is designed to feel balanced even when the bottle’s full.

Every detail is intentional, so you actually enjoy using it.

Only the lid and straw is dishwasher-safe. Place the lid open on the top rack of the dishwasher along with the straw.

To prevent leaks, make sure the lid is properly clicked shut before placing it in your bag. Make sure both seals are in place and avoid overfilling it, especially with warm liquids that build up steam.

Our bottles are designed for cold or hot (not boiling) drinks. They can keep your drinks hot for up to 18 hours.

You can safely add warm liquids, but avoid boiling liquid or carbonated drinks. Pressure build-up could cause leaks, damage or injury.
